Michiko Shoji graduated from high school at Toho Gakuen School of Music then received her degree in Faculty of Music at Toho Gakuen University, in Tokyo Japan. She has played with various artists and she has also given many lectures and master classes at different music festivals around the world. Here are some of the events she was invited to participate in, as a performer and also as a lecturer. The Pyreness Music Festival 2002-2003 season, Toscana Summer 2002-2003 season, Euro Music Festival in South Korea and Prague 2003-2004 season, Barcelona International Forum 2003-2008 season, Primavera Pianistica in Belgium in the spring of 2009.Wiener Musik Seminr2010.2011. Dubrovnik summer seminr2014.

Currently, Michiko Shoji is a professor at Toho School of Music in Sendai, Faculty of Piano and Chamber Music. Many of her students have been prizewinners at different piano competitions in Japan and around the world. She is also a Committee Member at Sendai International Piano Competition and a member of Japan Piano Teachers Association (PTNA)

After the devastating earthquake in 2011, she established the organization “Piano Donations for Japan Affected Public School.” The organization has sent over 480 pianos to the disaster area.

She started the Piano Forum in 2013 in Sendai. This forum invited excellent pianists from all over the world to perform in concerts and provide lessons. She continues with this performative and educational forum today.
